" Cry of the Andes – el grito de los Andes – muestra la trágica historia de cómo algunas empresas mineras supuestamente canadienses aprovechan la débil democracia que reina en pueblos chilenos para promover la elección de alcaldes que favorezcan la extracción de minerales. Prometen generar empleo y promover el desarrollo económico. Pero la verdad es otra. Más allá de la erosión de tierras y el daño a fuentes de agua, el empleo que tales empresas terminan por generar es inferior al que se logra mediante la agricultura orgánica y el aprovechamiento de residuos. El pago de regalías también resulta ser un sueño perdido. Los beneficios tributarios y las exoneraciones de impuestos dejan poco o nada a la región. La gente pensante que reside en estas zonas lo sabe y se siente impotente ante las promesas falsas de tales empresas".
